Climbing Mount Kilimanjaro in 7 Days

Mount Kilimanjaro happens to be the highest mountain in Africa. It is found near the border of Kenya and Tanzania. From the Amboseli National Park in Kenya, you can have a spectacular view of the mountain. It is once of the most difficult climbs in the world and a lot of preparation both physically and mentally should be exercised.

Day 1: 

Arrive at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport where you will be met by your tour company representative and transferred to a hotel in the city where you will spend the night.

Day 2: 

After breakfast you will be picked by a tour guide from the tour company of your choice an begin your safari to Tanzania. At Namanga, the Tanzania/Kenya border, you will clear with the custom formalities and proceed forth to Arusha where you will have lunch. You will proceed on to Moshi and spend the night at Marangu.

Day 3: 

Transfer from your hotel to Kilimanjaro National Park Gate at Marangu where you will proceed on with your trek through the dense vegetation to Mandara hut where you will spend the night. This is 9000ft high.

Day 4: 

Leave Mandara hut and proceed on to Horombo hut where you will spend the night. This is 12,335 ft high.

Day 5: 

Continue ascending and pass the "Last Water" point to reach the Saddle, a dry area between the peaks of Kibo and Mawenzi. You will spend the night at Kibo hut which is 15520ft.

Day 6: 

This is the day of your final ascend. In the night the climb begins. This is the toughest part of the safari as it is on loose spree. You will arrive at the Gillman's point just before dawn after five hours of trekking. This is a breathtaking view that refreshes you as you forget the tiresome safari. Proceed on to the last part of the journey; this is the Uhuru Peak where you will have breakfast. After breakfast, a photo session cannot be missed then descend to Kibo hut for lunch and proceed on for an overnight stay at Horombo hut.

Day 7: 

Descend to the Park gate where you will be directed back to your hotel in Moshi. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

Day 8: 

Breakfast at the hotel and leave the country for Nairobi Kenya where you will arrive late in the afternoon.
