Lindi
General Information
Lindi is located in its own region of Lindi in Tanzania. This is a small and charming little town, if somewhat run down. It is the administrative capital of the sparsely populated Lindi region and the only significant stop between Dar es Salaam and Mtwara.
Lindi's harbour became too shallow for modern ships and since the opening of the deep-water harbour at Mtwara in 1954, Lindi is now only used by local fishing boats. There are several pretty beaches around Lindi Bay. The area needs quite a bit of upgrading, however its quaintness and beaches call to visitors.
